Cadillac's family of sports utility and crossover vehicles is growing. GM's luxury subsidiary unveiled the new smaller XT4 crossover at an event tied to the 2018 New York Auto Show. The reveal happened at Cadillac House in Manhattan on Tuesday.
The XT4 is an all-new compact SUV targeting the next generation of luxury customers.
Developed on an exclusive compact SUV architecture, the XT4 is Cadillac's entry into the fastest-growing luxury segment.
“The first-ever 2019 Cadillac XT4 expands our successful SUV lineup to a segment where Cadillac has never been before,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “And it sets off a dramatic expansion and elevation of the product range, that will see a new Cadillac virtually once every six months through 2021.”
Cadillac will debut its new "Y" trim strategy on the XT4. The Premium Luxury and Sport models will build from the well-equipped Luxury base trim., with specific content and styling cues tailored to different customer tastes and preferences.
An all-new Cadillac 2.0L Turbo engine, producing 237 horsepower and 258 pound-foot of torque, will power all models. It features new efficiency-enhancing technologies including Active Fuel Management, which deactivates cylinders, and a nine-speed automatic transmission with next-generation Electronic Precision Shift. Cadillac estimates the XT4 will deliver 25 miles per gallon efficiency in city driving and 30 miles per gallon on the highway.
The XT4 will have seating for five with nearly 49 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row.
Starting price is $35,790 including destination charge. The XT4 joins the Escalade and XT5 models in Cadillac's SUV lineup. It goes on sale this fall. Customers can preorder now at participating Cadillac dealers.
