A Grand Avenue Christmas

It's Christmas time again and we are always looking for something fun and festive to do with the family. Well, here is one great idea! It's A Grand Avenue Christmas otherwise known as Christmas at the Pabst Mansion. If you have never been you are missing out on one of Milwaukee's iconic Christmas traditions.

The holidays are an enchanting time at the Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion. For just a small fee you can walk the three floors of the mansion and enjoy the elaborately decorated trees , decorated fireplaces and all the lights. Every year brings new and wonderful decorations and a chance for you to establish a new annual tradition for you and your family.

Captain Frederick Pabst was integral to the development of Milwaukee after he purchased half interest in a brewing company started by Jacob Best Jr. and his brother, Charles Best. The brewing company ultimately became known as the Pabst Brewing Company in 1889. Captain Pabst worked to get his beer to the national market and he succeeded as the Pabst logo (the red circle and hop leaf emblem) were proudly displayed in every major American city by 1900.

Construction on this beautiful mansion started in 1890 and construction lasted two years costing an estimated $254 thousand dollars. The mansion was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 21, 1975. It's been open to the public since 1978.

The Grand Avenue Christmas is not one to be missed. It is open until January 8, 2018. These are self guided tours with the last entry to the mansion at 3:15 pm daily. It is closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day with limited hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
