CW18 is proud to be among the broad alliance of broadcast stations, social media, and streaming platforms simulcasting #GraduateTogether: America Honors the Class of 2020 Saturday, May 16th.
As coronavirus has prompted the cancellation of high school graduation ceremonies across the country, The Entertainment Industry Foundation, The LeBron James Family Foundation, XQ Institute, and a broad coalition of partners are coming together to pay tribute to millions of high school seniors, their extraordinary teachers, and their families, as rally everyone around a message of hope and unity. The one-hour, commercial-free primetime special airs on Saturday, May 16 at 7pm CT, and will honor the more than 3 million high school seniors across the country.
Artists, athletes, musicians, commencement speakers, influencers, and cultural icons will show their support with performances and messages featuring students, teachers, and their families from coast to coast. Curated by high school students and educators throughout the country, with the support of the American Federation of Teachers, this special event will include a collection of commencement messages, musical performances, and inspirational vignettes. In addition, corporate and philanthropic giving associated with Graduate Together will benefit DonorsChoose and America’s Food Fund to help meet student needs in some of our nation’s most underserved and under-resourced communities.
The special will feature a Commencement Speech from Former President Barack Obama, and feature appearances from a vast array of superstars, including LeBron James, Michelle Obama, Malala Yousafzai, the Jonas Brothers, Yara Shahidi, Bad Bunny, Lena Waithe, Pharrell Williams, Megan Rapinoe, H.E.R., Ben Platt, and others.
This will be a moment to come together—as one nation—to applaud this rite of passage. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating the Class of 2020’s achievements.
