The CW Gives 10 Series Early Renewals for 2018-19 Season

Get ready to rejoice, CW18 faithful! The CW network announced today that it has given early renewals to ten of its current primetime series for the 2018-19 season.

While the broadcast networks traditionally make a lot of their schedule decisions and cancellation/renewal announcements in mid-May during the Upfront presentations, The CW has become known for making early announcements regarding the bulk of its lineup in recent years.

Included in this initial batch of renewals are second seasons of freshman series BLACK LIGHTNING and DYNASTY, as well as new seasons of all four "Arrowverse" DCTV series: ARROW (season 7), THE FLASH (season 5), SUPERGIRL (season 4), and DC's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (season 4). The seemingly-immortal veteran drama SUPERNATURAL will return for its fourteenth season, and the Golden Globe winning leading ladies Gina Rodriguez and Rachel Bloom are back with JANE THE VIRGIN (season 5) and CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND (season4). Specific premiere dates and times will be announced at a later time.

As announced by The CW's President Mark Pedowitz:

As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday through Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these ten series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come,” said Pedowitz. “And I’m especially happy that we’ll continue to work with the incredibly talented casts, producers, and writers who create the series our fans are so passionate about.

While no other details or decisions have been made available, VALOR is widely thought to have flown its last mission, and THE ORIGINALS is known to be entering its farewell season starting Wednesday, April 18th. Decisions on iZOMBIE, THE 100, LIFE SENTENCE, and will likely be made as the network closes in on the Upfront presentation to advertisers, press, and affiliates next month. The CW currently also has a record total of nine pilot presentations in development vying for spots on the primetime schedule, which will expand to six nights on CW18 beginning in October 2018. Stay tuned!
